Frequently asked questions

Birthdays

Birthday Parties can be celebrated at the school by providing lunch at 11:30 a.m. or snack at 2:30 p.m. Parents need to provide all supplies for the celebration. If lunch is part of the celebration, parents need to post a notice on our bulletin board the day before so children will not bring lunch that day. We also welcome any kind of entertainment that parents might want to provide for the children such as clowns, magicians, animal visits, musicians, etc.

Goody bags should not be part of the celebration. If parents would like, a b-day child can donate something to the school to commemorate their birthday. We suggest giving something that can be used by all the children at school such as interesting books, music, items from other cultures or unique toy/souvenir. The child’s name, age, and birth date will be placed on the gift to recognize this permanent gift to the school.

Illness / Medications

Our policies are mandated by the Department of Health to ensure that our school maintains a healthy atmosphere for the children. Children who are ill need to stay at home for rest and loving care. If you child becomes ill in school, you will be notified immediately and will need to pick up your child.

Emergency

Please be assured that our staff is well prepared in case an emergency occurs while your child is at school. We keep ample emergency supplies for children. All members of the staff are familiar with the action plans in case of an emergency and are required to attend annual CPR/First Aid courses. Earthquake and Fire Drills are conducted once a month and children are taught what to do.

Communication

The parents of A-List Montessori Preschool receive monthly newsletters that contain information on upcoming events, news, and other special announcements. In September we hold an Open House (for parents only) where parents can meet our full-time teachers, our enrichment program teachers and each other. We also conduct formal individual Parent-Teacher conferences in November / March to discuss progress and development of your child.

Communication between parents and teachers is a key component in providing an enriching and positive learning experience for the children. If you have questions or concerns and would like to speak about your child at a time other than the conference, please call the school to arrange a meeting with a child’s teacher.

Observation

Parents are welcome to observe a Montessori environment at any time during the school year. Please see your child’s teacher to arrange a convenient time. We suggest waiting at least 8 weeks after your child starts the school before making an appointment; this will allow your child to adjust to the new environment.

Performances

A-List Montessori presents shows/performances put on by the children for their families and friends. These include combination of drama, music, dance, ballet and gymnastics.

Naptime

Children that stay for a full day will be taking naps in school and will require a small sized sleeping bag. Sleeping bags should be taken home once a month for washing. We find that cotton is best for all seasons.

Organic Snacks

A-list Montessori Preschool promotes simple healthy eating principles by providing organic snacks to our students. We try to improve the overall personal health and wellness so our students start a healthy lifestyle.

Background Checks

We take the safety of your children with the up most care, not only do we do a Live Scan background check that is mandated by the state, we run and additional supplemental searches that covers all other criminal histories, neglect and abuse. We run background checks on all of our staff, volunteers and vendors who provide services to our students.
